In short: Ecuhawk runs on your own PC or server. There is no Ecuhawk cloud between you and the AI model. You choose the model provider under your own account, or a local model for fully offline use (in development). The AI only sees what its tools return, needs your approval to change anything on a real bench, and every action is logged.
Where your files stay
- Your project, DBC, ARXML, diagnostic files, recordings and reports stay in your project folder on your machine.
- Ecuhawk does not upload your project to Clazro. There is no Ecuhawk server in the path.
- The AI is optional. Every feature except the AI ones works with no internet connection.
What the AI sees
The AI works through a fixed set of tools. It sees only what those tools return, for example signal names and current values, bench status, test results or a requirement document you point it to. If you use a cloud model, that text goes to the model provider you chose, under your own account and its data terms.
You choose the model
- Cloud models: use the provider your company already approves, with your own key or account.
- Local models (in development): run an open model on your own server so nothing leaves your network.
What the AI is allowed to do
- Simulated bench: the AI can run tests freely.
- Real bench: every write, such as switching a relay or setting a voltage, needs your approval first.
- Hard limits always apply. A request for 99 V on a 30 V bench is refused by the engine, whoever sends it.
- Emergency stop is always available and puts every output in its safe state.
- AI-drafted tests are saved as drafts and run only on a simulated bench until a person accepts them.
Answers you can check
- Fact check: every number and signal name in an AI answer must match a value the tools actually returned. If it does not, the answer is flagged.
- Audit log: every AI action, approval and refused write is written to a log file.
Questions
Does Ecuhawk send my DBC files to the cloud?
No. Your files stay in your project folder. If you use a cloud AI model, only the text the AI's tools return, such as signal names and values, goes to the model provider you chose. Without the AI, nothing leaves your machine.
Can Ecuhawk AI run offline?
Support for local models on your own server is in development. All non-AI features already work fully offline.
Can the AI damage my hardware?
On a real bench every write needs your approval, and the engine refuses anything outside the bench limits. The emergency stop always works.
Which AI models does Ecuhawk support?
Ecuhawk works with common cloud models from major providers through your own account, and is adding support for open models you run yourself.
